Paper Towns | Get Lost To Get Found

Hi all!

About a week ago, I entered an insta contest hosted by Warner Music Malaysia and won two tickets to the premiere of Paper Towns. I have not watched The Fault In Our Stars yet but I've heard good things. So, coming from the same author it was expected to be a good movie.

I was a tad bit disappointed with how Warner Music managed the competition especially when winners wanted to collect their tickets. We got our tickets 10 minutes before the movie started and I admit that I was worried that we would be late but we weren't. All's good that ends well.

Anyway, with my tendency to paint designs based on events - here's a Paper Towns inspired one.

Colours used:

Base coat - Essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener
White - OPI Alpine Snow & Acrylic Paint
Black - Laval & Acrylic Paint
Top Coat - Miss Ashleigh Matte Hatter

As for my review on the movie, it didn't turn out to be a regular romcom but I liked how the story flowed. There was laughing and crying involved but John Green paints a pretty realistic view on knowing oneself and unrequited love as well as friendship. I would give it a 6/10. Thanks Warner Music Malaysia for the tickets!

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Femme Fatale Gravity Lapse Swatch

Hello all!

I'm so excited!!! Can you guess why??

I finally got my very first HOLO polish!!!

*insert heart eyed emoticon*

I am totally in love with holo polishes but sadly enough they're no holo polishes sold in Malaysia or none that i have seen anyway. In this case, I need to stocked up on Glisten & Glow HK Girl from MeiMeiSignature so, I decided to get a holo while I was at it! There were quite a few shades that I liked but budget wise, I could only pick one and lookie who made the cut!

Femme Fatale's Gravity Lapse!

I've been following their insta for quite some time now cause their polishes are so prettyyyyy but this is the first time I've gotten a bottle for myself.

So...you could say this is a double win for me! =D

Anyways, here are the pics! (So hard to take pic of holo)

I should take a video in future to show the beauty of the holo!

Time lapse is a mesmerising purple holo polish but saying that it's just purple is an understatement since the shade changes in different light and angles. You can have pure purple shimmer, gradients of violet in the sun, a sunset shade of orange and red with a tibge of black shimmer...I can hardly explain the beauty of this shade.

I can only say one thing about this polish...it is seriously beautiful! Good work Femme Fatale!

Look forward to some nail art with this baby! =D

That's it for this post! Cheers!

Bon Bon 37 & 38 Review

Hey guys!

This is wayyyyy overdue but better late than never rite?! These two polishes are from my Japan Nail Polish Haul from a month back and they are Bon Bon polishes!! No...the bottles are not the shape of bon bons sadly...anyways! Here are the swatches.

From left: Bon Bon 38 & 37

Bon Bon 37 is a kiwi green pastel colour that is opaque in three to four coats. I quite like the colour when opaque and in hindsight, it might have been a better idea to paint it over a coat of white. As for application (applies for Bon Bon 38 also), it was extremely streaky...I had to get a gigantic dollop of polish to cover the nail evenly. Thank goodness it turned out nice and thin.

Bon Bon 38 is a bright yellow pastel and I will never use it again! Why? It stains...really really REALLY bad! I would have to stay that it's in the same league with Sinful Colors Pistache... Mind you that I was wearing a clear gel base under the yellow and the difference of colour of my right and left hanf nails once removed was very apparent!

My verdict for the polishes...2/5...they wasn't much choice where I went and worse yet that it stained my naila so badly...

That's it for this post! I hope it didn't disappoint you guys much...
Cheers!

Beauty World Oil-In-Cuticle Pen Review

Hello all!

So here I am sitting at the dining table with my laptop while le boyfriend and le sis-in-law have a chat about me. XD Thought I would blog a while.

Getting back to my Japan Nail Polish Haul - this is the first product that I used - the

Beauty World Oil-In-Cuticle Pen

I actually tried it out at the store but I think the sample was already dried out from the cap being missing and all. I bought it anyway since I didn't have a proper cuticle softener..I just trim them after pushing them.

As per the name, you just have to use it normally as you were to clean your cuticle and the oil will flow out enough to smoothen the movement. My review? I love it! All I have to do is push my cuticles back then move them in a circular motion under the cuticle to remove all the dead skin. After that, just trim the cuticle as per usual.

My cuticles are in love with it and so am I. This is the first thing I reach for when I need to clean up my cuticles. Friends in Japan, expect me to ask some favours soon! =P

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat Review

Hey Nail Polish Lover! <3

So this is kinda overdue but here it is!!
Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat is one of the fast drying top coats on my hunt for the best fast drying top coat! I've got 2 more on the way for testing but here's what I think of Revlon's.

-I shall be comparing this polish against the current champion in my books:-
Seche Vite-

The drying time is slower than Seche Vites which I think contradicts the whole "FAST" drying top coat bit! >< The shine when applied is the same as Seche Vite which is FABULOUS as all the other reviews have mentioned. In my opinion, Revlon should only be used for single colours and thin coats because it smudges the polish which has made me re-do a lot of my designs so far and it does not dry all the way through fast enough unlike Seche Vite.

From what I've done so far, I would paint a layer of Revlon on my base colour before painting my design and only paint Seche Vite after I'm done! It's worked spectacularly and it reduced chipping! =) My manis last much longer from when I was only using Seche Vite.

However, Seche Vite's main weakness is still at hand...it gets ultra gooey after a while usually when you've used up half the bottle...so far I have not seen this in Revlon which is a good sign.

Seche Vite weakness: Polish gets gooey after a period of time
Revlon weakness: smudges polish, does not dry fast enough

I shall keep everyone updated on the best fast drying top coat search!
For now...

Cheers!

Burt's Bees Cuticle Balm Review

Hey All!
I've a review for you guys this time!
Remember how I always say that I need cuticle oil really badly?
WELL I FINALLY GOT ONE!

I surveyed a lot of cuticle oils and balms...and I mean
A LOT!!

I tried L'occitane, Body Shop, Evelyn&Crabtree
and let's not forget the Mavala cuticle oil!
All of them were either too oily, too smelly or BOTH!
Then...I finally found THE ONE...

BURT'S BEES CUTICLE BALM

This cuticle balm smells like lemons because it is
LEMON BUTTER CUTICLE CREAM!
It is also not as oily as the other balms =)

HERE ARE THE EFFECTS!

 A CLOSER LOOK!

It looks so much better right?! ^^

My opinion?
GREAT!
Definitely recommend it! ^^
To my knowledge it is around RM37 and S$12!

That's all for now!

Cheers!

Mavala Nail Polish Remover Review

A good nail polish remover is a nailpolishaholic's best friend!
My friend recommended this brand to me a couple of years ago
and I've been using it ever since! XD

Introducing...
MAVALA NAIL POLISH REMOVER!!

There are 2 types of Mavala Nail Polish...
The pink bottle is without acetone while the other is with acetone!
Obviously I like the blue one better since it removes the nail polish more easily!
^^

I would rate this nail polish remover...
9/10!
The minus 1 is because it doesn't really remove glitter that well but
not many removers can...when I find that one that CAN then I'll rate it
10/10!

Actually I ran out of mavala a while ago and when I went to restock...
The horror started! D8
All the stores that I went to were OUT OF STOCK! =(

In the end, I got a couple of bottles during my Singapore trip! XD
It was slightly more expensive but so worth it!

Phewww! Look out for the next review! ^^

Cheers!

MAVALA Cuticle Cream

As you know, I have been having dry cuticle issues ><"
All the good cuticle creams are really expensive...
I was about to buy Sally Hansen's cuticle oil then I saw
MAVALA's cuticle cream!
MAVALA's acetone nail polish remover is really good so
I thought I'd give the cuticle cream a try =)

So this is how it looks like...small...but who'd use so much cuticle cream!

When I saw 'CREAM'...I was expecting something white and creamy like hand cream
but inside is actually a yellowish ointment looking substance...
I guess it's called cream because it's too thick to be considered as oil...
It feels uber oily fyi...=.=...it smells bad too T___T
I can't stand putting my hands near my face now since it smells bad TT____TT

It's had it's desired effects so far...

If you compare it to the photo BEFORE I applied the cuticle cream...

You can still see the dry parts...=(

I'll have a follow up post soon to share the usefulness of the cuticle cream...
but I wouldn't buy it again just because of the awful smell it has...=(

Cheers!
