OPI Liquid Sand Stay The Night Swatch

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all having a great Father's Day! =)

3 coats under dim sunlight

My friend who is studying in Melbourne helped me get this bottle of OPI Liquid Sand Stay The Night from the Mariah Carey collection for AUD7!!! Can you believe the price?!?! I consider myself super lucky! =D

2 coats under dim sunlight

Stay The Night is a black based texture polish with red glitter which is absolutely beautiful! It reminds me of brimstone or something out of a fairy tale where the princess is trapped in a tower with a dragon and the prince has to come save her...wait a minute...I just described Sleeping Beauty when in fact I was thinking of Shrek...HAHAHAHA

I read from another swatch that it resembled embers from a dying flames which it does! This polish is kind of patchy when applying because of the texture. I prefer 2 layers because it's lighter and more magical...I applied another layer the day after and it became more opaque but it was kinda dark? Not really magical? Completely depends on you guys how you want it to look.

I got le boyfriend to snap a macro with his clip on lens.

The shots above was taken when I also had 2 layers on. Can you see the grit and the glitter sticking out??

I've had my eyes of this polish since the release and I must say no regrets whatsoever! It's beautiful, it's textured and it removes easily! =)

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Happy St Patty's Day!

Hi guys!

I'm finally back from Japan and coincidentally I'm just in time for St Patty's Day!

I couldn't wait to start using my new polishes I got from Japan! These are the colours I used:

Yellow - Bon Bon
Green - Bon Bon
Clover - Sally Hansen
Glitter - Pa
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener
Gel Base - Gelist Clear Base

Yes...I started using gel! I'm quite happy with the gel since it makes my nail hard and strong. I'm still looking for a new brand of nail polish remover and a place that sells 100% pure acetone...

Look forward to my nail haul from Japan! I'm so excited and you should be too!

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

New Year?

Hey all!

So I haven't posted up my new year nails...well here they are!

I asked my bf what should I paint for new years and he said fireworks...

Urghhhh why why why fireworks! I seriously cannot handle fireworks because actual fireworks are so pretty so how are you going to get that onto a nail? I'm sure other nail artists have done it but it just doesn't work for me.

So this is what I ended up with on new years...

Disappointing...I know but there will definitely be a time when I will be happy painting fireworks!

Till then!
Cheers!

Elle Girl No.86 Swatch

Hello everyone!

Here's a swatch of Elle Girl No. 86 polish. It is a Korean brand polish my friend got me as a souvenir.

86 is a sheer creme white polish with glitter chunks is them! Including snowflakes and stars, there are also multi coloured hexagonal and round glitters. I suggest painting a layer of white polish before applying for a more opaque look. The photos show 3 layers of the polish.

*Photos are at the bottom of the post because I'm using the Blogger app.

I didn't want to just remove the polish so I did a bit of reverse stamping. :)

Using Bundle Monster plate BM-407 I stamped some trees using Laval black and topped with Glisten & Glows HK Girl Top Coat.

The next day I matted the mani with Miss Ashleighs Matte Hatter and I must say that the matte version is so much prettier!

That's it for this post.
Cheers.

Snow in Santorini

Hey all!

I've got a lot of swatches for you and I can't wait to share them! I'm still editing the photos so please be a little more patient k! :)

For now how about my NOTD featuring Miss Ashleighs new texture polish See You In Santorini!

Some negative space and snow sounded really good so I painted it! I painted the snowflakes with white acrylic paint using a detailing brush from Faburnails and the negative space using nail vinyls from teismom! Do check them out!

When I did the swatch for See You In Santorini, I liked it a lot better matted. In this mani, I matted the pointer finger.

What do you guys think? Matte or gloss?

That's it for this post! Stay tuned for the swatches!
Cheers!

Casper The Friendly Ghost

Hey guys!

I finally painted the right theme for the right day! Today's theme is ghost and guess who I picked as my muse!

Casper the friendly ghost...(did you just sing that sentence?)

I got the proportions wrong again but I think this is my best work using acrylic paint thus far! 

Enjoy! Cheers!

The Lazy Blogger

Hey guys!
I seriously have nothing to say anymore...
I have been away from blogging for nearly half a year now...
I can't really say I was busy since I did have my bored moments here and then where I was able to blog...

ANYWAY! ENOUGH WITH THE SAD!

HERE'S AN UPDATE ON ME!

If you guys follow me on instagram @chronosz (do note that this is my personal account and is not nails only), then you'll know that I have finally graduated with a Bachelor in Media from RMIT University! ^^

Whoopie! It was a bit hectic near the end of 2013. Went on a graduation trip to Tasmania, went back to Malaysia for my birthday, flew back to Melbourne for a roadtrip from Sydney to Melbourne with my parents and boyfriend, GRADUATED! and flew back the next day for good!

Yup! That was such a rush and I came back to a reunion dinner at that! So here I am 5 months into 2014 working a desk job! ><

I've finally gotten used to work I know it took damn long and blogging again. Well not blogging doesn't mean I haven't been painting my nails! ^^

Here's my first mani back! Painted this for my grandfather's 82nd Birthday Party last Saturday.

Polishes are OPI Bubble Bath and NDLacquers Lovers in Lourve.
Isn't the glitter oh so pretty!

Natali from NDLacquers mixes such pretty colours! Her newest collection is glowy blacklight polishes! So awesome!!!

Check them out on her website http://www.ndlacquers.com/

That's it for the memory lane post! See you guys!

Cheers!

NDLacquers - A Night in Cannes Swatch

Elo elo!
I've got another NDLaquers swatch for you and if you've read the previous post then you'll know what you're in for!

Say hello to 'A Night in Cannes'.

A Night in Cannes is a turquoise jelly polish with aqua and maroon flakes! I fell in love the moment I saw the swatch!
The colour in the photos above are achieved with 4-5 layers. Since it's a jelly polish, it is super sheer but the glitter makes it opaque so remember to spread the glitter evenly for a nice opaque shade.

Can't wait for Natali to make more!
Check out her etsy shop!

Till next time!
Cheers!

NDLacquers - Lovers in Louvre Swatch

Hello all!
I was supposed to post all my Halloween manis for the rest of the challenge but I couldn't help myself from posting this first! XD

NDLacquers is an indie brand run by Natali D'Abbraccio. She just released her first collection 'Viva La France'. From that collection I got 2 polishes; A Night in Cannes and Lovers in Louvre.

Lovers in Louvre is a clear base polish chock full of glitter! XD
It is super duper pretty!!
Check out the photos!

Base: 2 layers of OPI Alpine Snow
This is 1 layer of Lovers in Louvre.

This is 2 layers.

Closest macro I could take with my digital camera.

Lovers in Louvre is filled with colourful micro glitters plus chunks of black, red, blue and silver hexagonal glitters of different sizes.

With glitter, comes great responsibility! XD
I prefer 2 layers as if has more coverage over the nail but be warned!, it is a bit messy and it'll make your nail super fat XD That's how i feel! Hahaha!

This has just become one of my favorite glitter polishes!
Thanks Natali!

If you want to purchase any of her polishes please visit her etsy shop at NDLacquers.

Cheers!

#Nailartsep 13 - Glitter

Another day, another mani.
So today's theme is glitter!
I'm not really a big fan of glitter especially since removing it is such a hassle.
I don't really like this mani...I was going for a simple look but I really wanted to play with the studs I just bought thus it came out like this.

Yeah...
I really like the stud gradient but as usual, nothing can stick on my nail.
I might consider using nail glue but I don't like what it does to the nail.
I've been using top coat to stick fimos, studs and rhinestones on.
The glitter is OPI Teenage Dream!
I haven't used this polish in so long...I remember the first time I ordered a set of OPI minis and it was the Katy Perry series!

I really want the Mariah Carey liquid sand series as well as the OPI neon generation set!
><
Can't wait to get them!!

That's it for this mani!
Cheers!

Miss Ashleigh Supernova Swatch

Yo everyone!
So this is FINALLY happening!
A swatch on a super cool thermal polish by Miss Ashleigh!
And it's called...

SUPERNOVA!

The polish is deep purple polish with silver glitter and chucks of pink and silver hexagonal glitter pieces WHEN IT'S COLD!

The polish turns blue when the temperature increases.
Be it from the surrounding temperature or your own body heat!

This is the polish when it is transitioning from one colour to the other.

Here's a collage of the whole thermal polish process!
^^

Here's a video from my instragram @chronosz of the transition.

I seriously love this polish!
It's so pretty, it doesn't chip like other polishes, it's easy application with the exception of trying to get the glitter onto the nail!
Besides, it's super fun to look down once in a while to see what colour they are!
Mine are usual blue since I have high body temperature! =P

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Polish : Wool Knot

Elo nail art lovers! <3
Long time no see.

It is great to say that I have bought my first ever texture polish.
I saw this baby at Priceline.

Two coats with no topcoat

Wool Knot with Essie Green Apple Mint as a base
No topcoat

With topcoat

Now, I was really excited when I got this polish. I've heard so much about textured polishes (not this specific brand or polish). Sad to say that I was quite disappointed with the fuzzy coat. Why? Because unlike it's name, it's no fuzzy. The first question that pops into my head when someone says 'textured polish' is "What does is feel like?". No texture, no deserve the name of textured polish.

Anyway, Sally Hansens Fuzzy Coat Collection reminds me glitter polishes. Hard to apply, hard to remove and layering it is best. Wook knot is a clear polish with blue and white fibers in it. It is hard to apply because the polish is a bit gooey. Multiple layers are needed to get the 'fuzzy' look.

That's it for this polish.
Cheers,
-Jing-

A not so white mani for the White Night!

Hey guys!
Apparently yesterday, February 23, 2013 was Melbourne's first Nuit Blanche a.k.a White Night!!
I totally did not know it existed and probably wouldn't have known that it was going on if I didn't have plans to yum cha with my friend.
Melbourne CBD is CROWDED!!!
and I mean
CROWDED!!!!
I have never seen so many people in the city before!
It felt like the Connaught Pasar Malam cause it was so packed.
=P

My NOTD yesterday.

I thought I would try the Burberry design!
It turned out really messy in the end ><
Darn it!

Back to White Night!
Here are some pics!
^^

There were laser shows on a lot of old buildings!
It was so awesome!!
XD

Cheers!!

A Belated Gong Xi Fa Cai

Elo all nail art lovers!
I know it's a bit late but...

GONG XI FA CAI!
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

Since I have the time, I thought I would post something.
I'm on a roadtrip with my parents on Melbourne's Great Ocean Road.
It's kinda supposed to be their anual honeymoon slash sending me back to Melbourne for second term slash helping me move into my new apartment slash a trip for grandpa since he really wanted to go on one.

Anywayz...back onto nail polish!
I could only do a simple CNY mani since I had to fly off on the 3rd day of CNY.

The chinese writing on my thumb è›‡ means snake since it's the year of the snake.
The word on my ring finger å–œå–œ means double happiness for the upcoming new year ^^

Sorry that my calligraphy is so bad XD
The other nails are painted with China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and topped with Nubar's Black Polkadot which is my absolute favorite layering polish ever! XD

I didn't get to bring my polish with me on the roadtrip but shall continue doing my nails when I move in properly when I get back to Melbourne!

For some weird reason, my nails hate Melbourne and they always break when I get here...-.-...waiting for them to grow out now but short nails are still paint-a-ble so no biggie =D

Cheers everyone!
Happy New Year!

Hello from me from the Great Ocean Road!

X'Mas '12 - Prezzies

Hey nail art lovers! ^^
Are you all done with your Christmas shopping yet?
I bet you aren't!! =P
Do you wrap your presents in bright green wrapping paper and tie it with a bright red ribbon? Maybe some of you do and some of you don't.

Christmas colours are definitely red and green to me.
Classic never gets old. How ironic.

Here's my Prezzie mani.

I really like this mani!
I wish I would get a Christmas present wrapped like this XD
Wouldn't it be awesome?!

Somehow...these days...I've been thinking of doing manis for other people but so far I've only done manis for friends and family. The main reason I don't what to do it to strangers is because I usually take a long time to paint depending on the design. Wouldn't it be so embarrassing to make your customer sit for like 4 hours straight while I paint her nails? Doing my own nails is one thing since I actually enjoy it but sitting down and doing nothing is just frustrating ><

Sorry about the small rant peeps.
Needed the let out!
^^

Happy Holidays All!
Cheers!
^^

P/S: Just in case you guys didn't know, I started making accessories and are selling them on etsy.com. XD If you haven't heard of etsy well I suggest you go to www.etsy.com right NOW! =D

Here's one my best sellers!

Antique Silver Infinity Pluggy w/o Chain

One of my buyers told me that she bought this for her best friend as a Christmas present!
I was so happy when she shared it with me though the reason she started a convo with me in the first place was because her package hadn't arrived yet. In the end, the package was at the post office waiting to be collected =P

If you guys haven't found a present yet for anyone.
If anyone at all, then how about this?

It makes me happy when you guys and everyone else out there likes my nail art designs and the accessories that I make!

X'Mas '12 - A Sweet Candy Cane Christmas

What pops into your head when someone says Christmas?
Presents?
Toys?
Santa?
How about candy canes!!

Christmas is just not complete unless you have had a candy cane!
I remember this one Christmas when my aunt brought home a gigantic candy cane for me and it took me months to finish it! MONTHS!! It was THAT big ><

Here's a candy cane mani that's a bit too big!
^^

Not sure if you guys can tell from the pics but I used wayyyyyyy too many layers of polish for this mani although it looks like a pretty normal french mani...it has 15 layers of polish ><
Why 15?
It's because I was really excited on trying out the jelly mani thing since I got a set of OPI mini NYC Ballet Petites and it ended up like that...

In the end, I could actually peel them off my nail completely intact as it was!
=P
I forgot to take a pic of them tho ><

Oh well!
So as a reminder to you! Go get some candy canes and share them around!
Cheers!
^^

#nailsfornewton

Hey there everyone.
Before I post up any Christmas designs I have to ask...
Have you heard about the Newton incident?
I'm pretty slow on these kinds of news but better late than never rite?
I was pretty shocked at what happened but what can't happen in this messed up world we live in now?
Newton may be one of the big ones but we have to be aware that there are smaller and sometimes more terrible incidents happening out there.

Nail artists on instagram have been passing on the hashtag #nailsfornewton around, asking nail art fans to paint white nails to pray for the poor children and others from the Newton incident that did not make it home for Christmas this year.

So here's my prayer for them...

I don't know why I haven't thought of this design before but it goes to show that inspiration can come from anywhere...even in sadness....

FYI: The second pic is to show the glitter on the pinky finger since the effect in the first pic made it unnoticeable.

Let their souls find peace...
