A Popsicle Wedding!

Hey guys!

I am currently in Jakarta now on a short trip with the le boyfriend to do a little sightseeing and to attend his friend's wedding. While I'm in the hotel, I might as well share my mani for the wedding!

Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener Top Coat
White - OPI Alpine Snow
Coral - Essie Tart Deco
Pink - Picture Polish Watermelon
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
White Heart - Ace Gel

I recently went to a seminar by Yoko Matsuda on gel designs hosted by Haru Global Beauty. I learnt how to make the icing gel then. It was such an amazing experience especially since it was my first time handling gel!

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Happy St Patty's Day!

Hi guys!

I'm finally back from Japan and coincidentally I'm just in time for St Patty's Day!

I couldn't wait to start using my new polishes I got from Japan! These are the colours I used:

Yellow - Bon Bon
Green - Bon Bon
Clover - Sally Hansen
Glitter - Pa
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener
Gel Base - Gelist Clear Base

Yes...I started using gel! I'm quite happy with the gel since it makes my nail hard and strong. I'm still looking for a new brand of nail polish remover and a place that sells 100% pure acetone...

Look forward to my nail haul from Japan! I'm so excited and you should be too!

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

A Japanese Chinese New Year!

Hi Nailies!!

I'm now in the land of the rising sun! So incredibly happy right now but as promised, here is my Japan mani for CNY!

I had already decided to wear a thermal polish to Japan since I can't really see the transition in Malaysia due to the constant humid weather. Then, I thought it's still CNY so why don't I add a little CNY to it and just on time did my new MoYou London Zodiac plate arrive! I just HAD to order it because I am a ram/goat/sheep and it just felt like it was MY plate you know...

I used the reverse stamping method to get the designs onto my nails and I have to say that Mundodeunas stamping polishes are my all time favourite now as they are opaque, stamp well and do not smudge. The only downside is the smell cause man! is it potent!!

I am really happy with this mani and hopefully it lasts a few days although I did bring a few bottles to touch up with. Such mix feelings me has right now. ;_;

Colours Used:

Thermal Polish - Miss Ashleigh Pa Rum Pum Plum
Black - Mundodeunas Black
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl

Well, that's it for this post! If you want to see snipbits of my Japan trip then follow my instagram account @chronosz. Btw, great service by the flight attendant on airasia for being so thoughtful when le boyfriend was having motion sickness. Double thumbs up!!

Cheers!

羊年快乐! Happy Chinese New Year!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Chinese New Year! (although it's already the 8th day of new year) =P

I'll be flying off to Japan tomorrow for a 2 week holiday and I am super duper excited but leaving tomorrow means I won't be with the fam for chap goh meh (15th and last day of new year). Darn you cheap flight tickets! Sad as I may be for missing 5 days of new year at home, I'll have that much and more fun in Japan especially since we've been planning it for a year!

Anyways! Here's my mani on the 1st and 3rd day of CNY! I wanted to get a gel base mani but it just didn't work out especially with the pricing...

I decided to go with a mani inspired by @svetasanders on instagram which features gold nail polish and coincidentally or NOT i purchased the OPI Gwen Stephani 18k No Doubt Gold polish! The gradient didn't really work for me though =P

Colours Used:

Red - OPI Big Apple Red
White - OPI Alpine Snow
Gold - OPI No Doubt 18k Gold
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener

For the 3rd day, I went with one that I experimented with before. I actually wanted to double stamp it but red just didn't mix well so I left it with white and gold bamboo in the end.

Colours Used:

White - OPI Alpine Snow
Gold - China Glaze Passion
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener
Stamped with MoYou London Suki Plate

I'll be posting my Japan mani when I reach Japan hopefully! Can't wait to share it with you guys since it'll be my last CNY mani for the year!

That's it for this post!
Have a Happy Goat Year! Mehhhhh
Cheers!

(Although it's already the day after Valentines in Malaysia)

I did a simple mani this Valentines and stuck to pastel hearts.

Love Love Kyuuuunnn!

Colours used :

Red | OPI Big Apple Red

That's it for this post!

Fashion Inspired Dots

Hello!

There are a lot of nail artist out there that use fashion as an inspiration for nail art designs. One of my favorite  nail artists is Taryn from Miss LadyFinger. Go check her and her beautiful nail designs out.

For this post, I chose my new Fossil zip clutch which I adore! It's a really cute wallet in shade of coral with black polkadots on it. (Photos can be found at the bottom of the post)

I used Essie's Tart Deco for the base which has become one of my favorite coral polishes and my (cannot love without) black polish from The Faceshop for the dots.

This is also my first time using a lightbox. I read one of articles of NailIt mag and they had instructions on how to DIY your own lightbox. Don't get me wrong...I haven't built it yet. Just so happened that my bf had one and I was in the mood. 😛

It was pretty fun playing around with it. Hopefully I get to making one soon. Anyways...enjoy and see you next time.

Cheers!

Stamping Fever!

Elo Elo!
I've been super into konad recently and my current fav is Bundle Monster's 'Create Your Own' Collection 2013 (CYO 2013).

Yeah! So those are the plates included in the collection. Who says that freestyle is the only way to go!
I used to be so against using konad since the first time I used it and it turned out to fugly! ><

But after getting slightly better I wanna find more ways to create manis with them!

Here are some of the mani I did with the CYO 2013.

Really like the binary code mani! I really want proper konad polishes now tho. The normal nail polish doesn't stick as much and sometimes ends up super light.

Definitely going to try out more designs and never forgetting to do some freestyle! Venturing out into another style of nail art soon!

That's it for now!
Cheers! ^^

A new month and a new challenge! - LacquerDreams #HalloweenChallenge2013 - Day 1 - Ghosts

Hey all!
So it's finally Ocotober!
The months just seem to past by so fast, I have less than a month of my degree life to go through and into reality I go!
This month, the challenges all revolve around Halloween and of course @californails came out with a challenge of her own but I decided to challenge myself to LacquerDreams' which I found from @nadeekay's profile instead.

DO NOT BE AFRAID OF CHANGE!

Not to sound mean but @califonails challenge for the month has much easier themes than LacquerDreams' challenge. As you can see, the first theme is GHOSTS!
*BOO*
Did I scare you? =P

I really love this mani!
The ombre turned out well, the shape of the stamp is clear on the pointer finger, and the ghosts are cute and scary! Well, that's what I think =)
It looks better with the Instagram filter too!

Am I right or am I RIGHT!

That's it for this post!
Look forward to the next theme!
Cheers!

#Nailartsep 28 - Animal Print

Hey nail art peeps!
It is the 1st of October and this post is late I know...kinda got confused over something.

The last theme on @californails #nailartsep challenge is on the 31ST of September...which does not exist...
I thought there was a 31st until today turned out to be the 1st of October! XD

Anyway, this is for the 28th of September and the theme is ANIMAL PRINT!

I seriously had a lot of fun making this mani.
Why?
Because all of the animal prints on this mani is from 5 different konad and bundle monster stamping plates! XD
What I have learnt from stamping with normal nail polish is that the patter will always come out very light. To make it look better, I coloured the patterns in like a little kid XD

I think this is my best mani for the challenge! ^^

Regarding the ghostly 31st of September, I didn't paint anything in plaid but I'm wearing a plaid skirt!

I deem this acceptable!
@californails #nailartsep challenge
COMPLETED!

Look forward to the next challenge!
Bwhahahahhah!
Cheers!

#Nailartsep 26 - Water colour/Water marbling

Me again!
More of @californails #nailartsep challenge on Instagram!
For the 26th, the theme was water colour and there is a nail art technique to create a beautiful water colour effect on your nails which I tried out of course.
I did a trial run before painting the actual mani which ended in DISASTER.
Didn't get the chance to take a photo of it but you wouldn't want to see it anyway...you would go blind...*just kidding* XD

I followed this Youtube tute for the water colour effect!
Maybe you guys would get a better result than I did!

Getting back onto the challenge!
Since the water colour did not work I decided to do some water marbling =)
Like a lot of others, my first time water marbling was HORRIBLE!
This is probably my fourth or fifth time doing it and I think I've improved a lot.
I still need to find out how to get a nice pattern onto my nail though XD

Here's what I got.

I am obviously still in love with this polish but on the other hand, my choice of colours was seriously BAD! I don't think the colours gelled at all! The middle finger would be the best among the lot.

That's it for this post!
More to come!
Cheers!

Konad, konad, & more konad!

Phew!
This is my third post in a row for the night!
Not really a big achievement but I'm supposed to be in bed right now ><
Anywayz...so I got to more stamping with my konad plates.
Quite happy with the turnout!

Looks pretty good yeah!
The plates I used from the left:
m79 m73 m78 m60

Kinda order Bundle Monster plates a while ago.
My hand just moved on their own and clicked the order button on the website! ><
Can't wait for them to arrive!
I've always seen BM designs all over and they are amazing but it isn't just the design that makes the mani amazing but the person who painted it. The nail artist is the person that controls the design.

That's it for this post!
More to come for sure!
Cheers!
^^

#Nailartsep 19 - Feathers

'Even though it hurts, I can't slow down
Walls are closing in and I hit the ground
Whispers of tomorrow echo in my mind
Just one last time~~~'

Sorry for the singing hello but I'm seriously addicted to David Guetta's song Just One Last Time at the moment. Oh yes and I am late once again with posting. Gonna get hectic with the end of my final semester but I'll pull through. I CAN and I WILL!

For the 19th of September, the theme was feathers.
I did a really nice feather design before coupled with a dream catcher...I think...It was so hard to find the photo in my phone gallery!
Remembering that mani kinda made my head swell and in the end was wayyyyyyy too confident with drawing the feathers and it ended up super crappy. =(

The final result!

As you can see, I am still super curious about konad. There was a feather design on one of the plates so tried it out. Was going for a 'leaves falling in Autumn' kind of feel. The colour was so light that you can't really see the feathers but it's the better compared to the free hand feathers. The yellow feather is the worst! It looks like a durian now...

I realize that I am getting very lazy in my designs. I have to admit that assignments are piling up but nail art is way for me to relax. Doesn't really help when the design comes out bad but @californails nail art challenge gives me something to paint. If I had to think of my own themes to paint then I think I would be stressed out of my mind by now!

A lot more posts are coming your way people!
Get prepared!
Cheers!

#Nailartsep 07 - School

Woo hoo!
It's back to school baby!
Or in my case, back to uni!
XD

So for the 7th of September, the theme was 'School'.
I've done school themed nails before and a lot of nail artists have been doing them recently. Especially with cutepolish's video on it!

This is what I came up with.
I had the image of an evolving school life.
Like how we used chalkboards before whiteboards and markers.
And how we used paper instead of laptops and computers.

I may not be able to write on a chalkboard or white board again as I move on to work life but I am grateful to have the experience of using them in my life unlike many students now that have not.

That's it for this mani!
The next mani is due on the 11th so look forward to it!
Cheers!
^^

P/S: Here are the links to my other school manis.

#Nailartsep 04 - Gold & Teal

Hey nail art lovers!
Sorry this is a few days late but I swear I did it on the right day!
^^

So as I've said in my previous post, I am currently attempting @californails Nail Art September Challenge on Instagram!
So for the 4th the month, the theme is Gold & Teal.
Frankly speaking, I had no idea what colour Teal is...and I don't I will be able to differentiate Teal from the green colours ><

Anyway, this is what I ended up with!

With my personality, if you said pink & green only then I would only used those colours which gives me a hell of a headache when coming up with designs.
Which includes other aspects in life with similar situations.
However, I have learnt that it is not necessary to only use these two colours, as long as the main point of the design is of the two colours.
So, breaking out of my insecurities little by little I used black and white polishes as well as gold and teal in the mani.
Although, some people do not consider black and white colours.

I hope those with the same problem as I are able to improve.
Gambatte!

That's it for this post!
I have another mani for the 7th which was 2 days ago.
Sorry for the untimeliness but I seriously assure you that I painted them on the right day!
If you don't believe me then check my instagram at @chronosz

Cheers!

September...A Month of Challenges...Day 1

Hello all!
It is the 1st of September,
I am currently on Spring break,
Today is my mother's birthday,
and it is the first day of @californails #nailartsept challenge!

The first deems it is time for camo nails!
Camo is short for camouflage...if you didn't already know! XD
This is actually my first time attempting camo nails.
I don't think it's the best but looks good to me!

Look forward to more designs yeah!
I've got a really great swatch for you guys which I will upload tonight.
That's it for this post.

Cheers,
-Jing-

Selamat Hari Merdeka!

Hey there!
So today, the 31st of August is Malaysia's Independence Day!!
Wooo Hooo!!
*cracked open a bottle of wine*

Anywayz! So this is my mani for this years MERDEKA!

Inspired by the Malaysian flag but was too lazy to draw the star properly...
There's also the problem that I can't draw the star for nuts! ><

I actually painted one last year but it seems that it's not on the blog?
If it is, I can't find it...
Here it is anyway!

The star is the correct shape but still wrong FYI...
The only reason this years design looks nicer is because I took the time to use striping tape!

This is how my nails looked with the tape on.

A lot of tape...I know...

Anywayz! That's it for this post!
Happy Birthday Malaysia!

Cheers,
-Jing-

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Polish : Wool Knot

Elo nail art lovers! <3
Long time no see.

It is great to say that I have bought my first ever texture polish.
I saw this baby at Priceline.

Two coats with no topcoat

Wool Knot with Essie Green Apple Mint as a base
No topcoat

With topcoat

Now, I was really excited when I got this polish. I've heard so much about textured polishes (not this specific brand or polish). Sad to say that I was quite disappointed with the fuzzy coat. Why? Because unlike it's name, it's no fuzzy. The first question that pops into my head when someone says 'textured polish' is "What does is feel like?". No texture, no deserve the name of textured polish.

Anyway, Sally Hansens Fuzzy Coat Collection reminds me glitter polishes. Hard to apply, hard to remove and layering it is best. Wook knot is a clear polish with blue and white fibers in it. It is hard to apply because the polish is a bit gooey. Multiple layers are needed to get the 'fuzzy' look.

That's it for this polish.
Cheers,
-Jing-

A different type of butterfly

Hey all!
You guys have seen butterfly wing manis rite?
If you haven't then go ask Mr. Google cause he know ALL! XD

I was getting quite bored of the normal type of butterfly wing manis.
Which I categorize as a colour as base (to your liking) with black polish to shape the wings and dots (preferably white) to pattern the wings.

So I decided to experiment a bit and try something different.
Somehow or another the word "apple" came into mind thus the colours; yellow, red and black. Yellow for the filling, red for the skin and black for the seeds.

This is NOT how I envisioned it.

It actually doesn't look like butterfly wings.
FAILURE!
But failure is needed to succeed!
Maybe a different colour combi would be better and I don't mean the mundane combi.

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

P/S: My middle finger nail on my left hand kinda split from the skin a bit so it hurts...won't be painting my nails until it heals.

Nyannnnnnnnnnn

Hello nail art lovers!
I am back in Melbourne and have access to ALL my polishes now! XD
What is the first nail art that I did?
If the title didn't give it away then the mani will do the thick! =P

My friend actually challenged me to do this mani!
Then I went all Barney Stinson and said, "Challenge Accepted!"
LOL

This was a really fun mani to paint although I did get the proportions wrong again ><
That's it for this mani! Technically this isn't the mani I started the semester with. I painted my favorite Green Apple Mint from Essie topped with Nubar's Black Polkadots!

Happy Back to School/Uni/College!
Cheers!
^^

Here's the video for fun!!

Happy 4th of July...oops!

Hello everyone!
Happy American Independence Day! =)
Happy 4th of July!!
Although it's already the 5th of July in Malaysia
=P

I managed to make due with the little amount of nail polish I have since my collection in still in Melbourne!
Luckily for me that I happened to have the right-ish colours

Had to cut the tape strips myself thus the uneven stripes...
Might consider getting more tape...

Red, white and blue are the colours and so I delivered!
Have a great day everyone!
Hope you enjoy time with you families watching fireworks light up the sky!

Cheers!
^^
