A Japanese Chinese New Year!

Hi Nailies!!

I'm now in the land of the rising sun! So incredibly happy right now but as promised, here is my Japan mani for CNY!

I had already decided to wear a thermal polish to Japan since I can't really see the transition in Malaysia due to the constant humid weather. Then, I thought it's still CNY so why don't I add a little CNY to it and just on time did my new MoYou London Zodiac plate arrive! I just HAD to order it because I am a ram/goat/sheep and it just felt like it was MY plate you know...

I used the reverse stamping method to get the designs onto my nails and I have to say that Mundodeunas stamping polishes are my all time favourite now as they are opaque, stamp well and do not smudge. The only downside is the smell cause man! is it potent!!

I am really happy with this mani and hopefully it lasts a few days although I did bring a few bottles to touch up with. Such mix feelings me has right now. ;_;

Colours Used:

Thermal Polish - Miss Ashleigh Pa Rum Pum Plum
Black - Mundodeunas Black
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl

Well, that's it for this post! If you want to see snipbits of my Japan trip then follow my instagram account @chronosz. Btw, great service by the flight attendant on airasia for being so thoughtful when le boyfriend was having motion sickness. Double thumbs up!!

Cheers!

Classy & Girly

Hello all!

Today's mani is a classy border mani which in my opinion adds class and is also a bit girly at the same time. You can definitely wear this for all occasions be it casual or formal.

While I'm at it, I shall review this nude polish from The Faceshop. I really like the colour but it took me 5 layers to get it opaque. It was also quite streaky. I do forgive these aspects because the colour is just what I wanted.

I drew the borders with acrylic black paint then went on to stamp the design from Bundle Monster plate BM-407 on with Mundodeunas black stamping polish and filled in the gaps with black acrylic paint. Lastly, I topped it off with my favourite top coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Classy French Tips - Minty-fied!

Hi Guys!
Here's my NOTD (Nails of the day) featuring a classy mint lace french tips.
I'm not the type that really likes french tips especially since my nail beds are so incredibly short but this mani is so YES! Plus who would say no to lace and mint?!?
Shorter nail beds = Longer french tips

Anyway, here are the colours I used for the mani.
Base coat - Essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener
Mint - Miss Ashleigh Experi-mint
Black - Mundodeunas Stamping Polish
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Nail Vinyls - Teismom
That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Normal Stamping Vs Reverse Stamping

Hey guys!

I posted this mani on instagram (@chronosz) last night and wanted to discuss the pros and cons of 'Normal stamping Vs Reverse Stamping'.

The photos are not very clear but hopefully it will suffice for this brief explanation.

I used reverse stamping on the pointer finger whereas the others were done using the normal stamping method. From my observation, the design is clearer and neater using the reverse stamping method. On the other hand, the normal stamping allows for missing pieces of the pattern and the design can sometimes come out crooked.

This can be explain by the following:

  1. You did not stamp the design properly
  2. Part of the polish dried
  3. The polish you are using is not suitable
For me, I am still looking for a good stamping polish. my favourite black polish from The Faceshop is too sheer for stamping. So far, I have purchased black polishes from Laval and Rica. Truth be told, I was incredibly excited when I got my Rica polishes. I had seen so many beautiful manis using her polish but to my dismay it was not meant to be. The Rica polish was impossible to stamp with, even with the reverse stamping method. I'm not saying that it's not good but there were other factors preventing me from using it properly. I'll comment more on this in a different post.

Getting back to the topic at hand, reverse stamping is done by top coating the design when it is on the stamper, wait for it to dry, peel it off, top coat your nail and paste it on like a nail wrap. Basically, it's a DIY nail wrap. The reason why the design comes out neater is because reasons 1 & 2 do not apply here. The downside is that it could come out uneven when you're putting it on your nail. I still have difficulties with it and most of the time, the side of the 'nail wrap' doesn't stick on the nail and it leaves air pockets.

It is best to press it down onto your nail and make sure it's stuck on hard first before cutting off the excess and applying another layer of top coat. Here's a video tutorial from the amazing Sveta Sanders. Check here instagram out for more amazing manis!!

In my opinion, normal stamping is all good if you've got a good polish while reverse stamping is good when you have some of the problems above like I do or if you want to add a little colour to the design.

That's all for this post!
Cheers!

Wedding Dinner Nails

Hey guys!

So...I went for my cousin's wedding last night and of course I wouldn't go with naked nails!

Matching my dress which was red with black lace around the waist, I went for a nice simple design using Bundle Monster stamping plates.

(Photo at the bottom of the post)

I used Faceshop's black polish to stamp on a rose design onto OPI Big Apple Red.

My bf decided to call this mani Roselle. 😂

I still had to 'paint-by-numbers' cause the black polish doesn't come out opaque after being stamped. All in all still pretty!

Hope you like it!
Cheers!

Stamping Fever!

Elo Elo!
I've been super into konad recently and my current fav is Bundle Monster's 'Create Your Own' Collection 2013 (CYO 2013).

Yeah! So those are the plates included in the collection. Who says that freestyle is the only way to go!
I used to be so against using konad since the first time I used it and it turned out to fugly! ><

But after getting slightly better I wanna find more ways to create manis with them!

Here are some of the mani I did with the CYO 2013.

Really like the binary code mani! I really want proper konad polishes now tho. The normal nail polish doesn't stick as much and sometimes ends up super light.

Definitely going to try out more designs and never forgetting to do some freestyle! Venturing out into another style of nail art soon!

That's it for now!
Cheers! ^^

#Nailartsep 26 - Water colour/Water marbling

Me again!
More of @californails #nailartsep challenge on Instagram!
For the 26th, the theme was water colour and there is a nail art technique to create a beautiful water colour effect on your nails which I tried out of course.
I did a trial run before painting the actual mani which ended in DISASTER.
Didn't get the chance to take a photo of it but you wouldn't want to see it anyway...you would go blind...*just kidding* XD

I followed this Youtube tute for the water colour effect!
Maybe you guys would get a better result than I did!

Getting back onto the challenge!
Since the water colour did not work I decided to do some water marbling =)
Like a lot of others, my first time water marbling was HORRIBLE!
This is probably my fourth or fifth time doing it and I think I've improved a lot.
I still need to find out how to get a nice pattern onto my nail though XD

Here's what I got.

I am obviously still in love with this polish but on the other hand, my choice of colours was seriously BAD! I don't think the colours gelled at all! The middle finger would be the best among the lot.

That's it for this post!
More to come!
Cheers!

#Nailartsep 22 - Nature

Hey guys...
I feel like *flip table*-ing on myself!
I wrote on instagram that I would post this the day after challenge but no such thing...
I can't really recall why the mani is so bad, I know there were multiple things going wrong the day before thus the horrible effort nature mani.

Yeah...so obviously I am still experimenting with the konad plates.
FYI! I received my parcel from Bundle Monster and am in LOVE with the patterns! ^^
I think among all the nails, the little finger looks the most presentable.

I wish that I could finish all my assignments so that I could concentrate on nail art but that's just me dreaming! Another 3 more weeks and another life challenge is waiting for me after that! Nail art will forever be my salvation from the hardships of life. Although, you can tell what kind of mood I'm in from the details of the mani! =P

Anywayz, I am 3 posts late with @californails #nailartsep challenge so I better get to blogging!
Cheers!

Konad, konad, & more konad!

Phew!
This is my third post in a row for the night!
Not really a big achievement but I'm supposed to be in bed right now ><
Anywayz...so I got to more stamping with my konad plates.
Quite happy with the turnout!

Looks pretty good yeah!
The plates I used from the left:
m79 m73 m78 m60

Kinda order Bundle Monster plates a while ago.
My hand just moved on their own and clicked the order button on the website! ><
Can't wait for them to arrive!
I've always seen BM designs all over and they are amazing but it isn't just the design that makes the mani amazing but the person who painted it. The nail artist is the person that controls the design.

That's it for this post!
More to come for sure!
Cheers!

#Nailartsep 19 - Feathers

'Even though it hurts, I can't slow down
Walls are closing in and I hit the ground
Whispers of tomorrow echo in my mind
Just one last time~~~'

Sorry for the singing hello but I'm seriously addicted to David Guetta's song Just One Last Time at the moment. Oh yes and I am late once again with posting. Gonna get hectic with the end of my final semester but I'll pull through. I CAN and I WILL!

For the 19th of September, the theme was feathers.
I did a really nice feather design before coupled with a dream catcher...I think...It was so hard to find the photo in my phone gallery!
Remembering that mani kinda made my head swell and in the end was wayyyyyyy too confident with drawing the feathers and it ended up super crappy. =(

The final result!

As you can see, I am still super curious about konad. There was a feather design on one of the plates so tried it out. Was going for a 'leaves falling in Autumn' kind of feel. The colour was so light that you can't really see the feathers but it's the better compared to the free hand feathers. The yellow feather is the worst! It looks like a durian now...

I realize that I am getting very lazy in my designs. I have to admit that assignments are piling up but nail art is way for me to relax. Doesn't really help when the design comes out bad but @californails nail art challenge gives me something to paint. If I had to think of my own themes to paint then I think I would be stressed out of my mind by now!

A lot more posts are coming your way people!
Get prepared!
Cheers!

Konad noob in the house!

Yo!
Konad noob here!
Ha ha ha !

Hey guys!
I got a whole bunch of konad plates from bornprettystore.com and is super into trying to stamp stuff on my nails now!
^^

This is my nail mail from that day! Konad plates, studs, brushes and was surprised to find an extra hello kitty nail decal as a gift!
SCORE!

ANYWAY!
Here's my NOTD!
This is actually NOT my first time using konad plates.
I tried it out when I firstly started doing nail art...which was around 3 years ago...
WOW...how fast do the years past!
I wasn't all that good at it back then and I don't think that I'm any good at it now either.
I do think that this came out pretty nicely! =)

For the base, I used Dotti Light Blue!
I just grabbed this off the store counter because it was so pretty and absolutely NO regrets whatsoever! Light blue is a great polish which is easy to apply, opaque and even in 2 coats, and does not stain!
The pattern is from the konad plate M65.

I couldn't help myself from trying out the plates as soon as I could.
Behind the scenes notes; while I had the football mani on my left hand, I had a different mani on my right!
Kinda hard to see the clouds. Mostly because it wasn't stamped well and there isn't much of a contrast between the colours. I just thought it would match and it would look cute! ^^

I used this plate for this mani.
Sorry for the unrefined edges of the plates.
Been experimenting with Photoshop which obviously did not come out well.
><
Oh well! Live and let learn!

If you guys haven't tried out konad then I suggest you do!
It's pretty fun and simple to use.
That's it for this post!
Cheers!
^^

P/S: I've already painted the next mani for @californails #Nailartsep 13!
Look forward to it!
