Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

Or in my case, Happy Lantern/Mooncake Festival! =)

In conjunction with the event, here's a lantern mani using Moyou London's Zodiac plate!!!

I actually wanted stamp with a green polish over Miss Ashleigh's Midnight Shadows but it didn't really work out so I went the other way.

I painted 3 layers of green OPI tint and stamped using Mundodeunas black. The design came out quite nice!

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

P/S: Eat more mooncakes!

Birdie Blues

Happy Monday all,

*yawnnnn*

Yup, that's sounds like the normal Monday morning response. Le boyfriend suggested painting my nails blue because you know...Monday blues...hahahahhaha

Well I take anything that sounds good. So, I did a blue with white french gradient tips. It reminded me of clouds and how fluffy they are and how nice it would be to sleep on them...

*yawnnnnn*

This post is making me sleepy...but gradients to be are a bit boring now so I did some stamping. Making use of my Moyou London Zodiac Plate, I stamped on a bird on a branch. =)

Looks really good with the gradient. Like looking up from under a tree with a bird perched on a branch and the cloudy blue sky as the background.

Colours used:

Base coat - Essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener
White - OPI Alpine Snow
Blue - Miss Ashleigh Baby's Got The Blues
Black - Mundodeunas
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

I Spy A Fingerprint!

Hey guys!

(Source: teaser-trailer.com)

For the first time in forever~~~ I won tickets to a movie premiere!! Thanks to The Salad Show and Dan Khoo, me and my friends got the chance to watch 'Spy' staring Melissa Mccarthy, Jason Statham & Jude Law!

I was hooked on the movie after watching the trailer which was hilarious! The full movie is even better!! Trust me on this! XD

For the event, i decided on fingerprint nails since it was a spy show and all...although fingerprints are leaning more towards detectives...no?

Colours used :

Base coat - Essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener
White - OPI Alpine Snow
Black - The Faceshop
Red - OPI Big Apple Red
Stamper - Faburnails
Design - Bundle Monster BM-414
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl

If you couldn't tell, the red represents blood. Hahaha!

Stamping Wonders

Hey guys!

I thought I would share some of my latest manis with you just in case you don't follow me on my instagram @chronosz. =)

I did this mani with no particular design in mind...I just wanted my current fav Canmake polish and some sort of design. So, I flipped through my stamping plates for a nice design and decided on one from BM-404. I used reverse stamping to get the pattern on.

Polishes used :

Base coat - Essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener
Green - Canmake 406C
Gold Glitter - OPI Don't Speak 18k Gold Top Coat
Stamping Polish - Laval Black
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl

This is my current NOTD but not for long!! I'm going for something girly next!

As you can tell, I've been doing some stamping here and there. This mani is a double stamped butterfly design also using a Bundle Monster plate.

Colours Used :
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener Top Coat
Blue Texture Polish - Miss Ashleigh See You In Santorini
White stamping polish - Mundodeunas white
Purple polish - Color Club Ms. Socialite
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Bundle Moster Stamping Plate BM-307

I wasn't really feeling this mani...but others did so that's good enough for me! Look forward to more swatches!

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

羊年快乐! Happy Chinese New Year!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Chinese New Year! (although it's already the 8th day of new year) =P

I'll be flying off to Japan tomorrow for a 2 week holiday and I am super duper excited but leaving tomorrow means I won't be with the fam for chap goh meh (15th and last day of new year). Darn you cheap flight tickets! Sad as I may be for missing 5 days of new year at home, I'll have that much and more fun in Japan especially since we've been planning it for a year!

Anyways! Here's my mani on the 1st and 3rd day of CNY! I wanted to get a gel base mani but it just didn't work out especially with the pricing...

I decided to go with a mani inspired by @svetasanders on instagram which features gold nail polish and coincidentally or NOT i purchased the OPI Gwen Stephani 18k No Doubt Gold polish! The gradient didn't really work for me though =P

Colours Used:

Red - OPI Big Apple Red
White - OPI Alpine Snow
Gold - OPI No Doubt 18k Gold
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener

For the 3rd day, I went with one that I experimented with before. I actually wanted to double stamp it but red just didn't mix well so I left it with white and gold bamboo in the end.

Colours Used:

White - OPI Alpine Snow
Gold - China Glaze Passion
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Base Coat - Essie Nail Hardener
Stamped with MoYou London Suki Plate

I'll be posting my Japan mani when I reach Japan hopefully! Can't wait to share it with you guys since it'll be my last CNY mani for the year!

That's it for this post!
Have a Happy Goat Year! Mehhhhh
Cheers!

Classy & Girly

Hello all!

Today's mani is a classy border mani which in my opinion adds class and is also a bit girly at the same time. You can definitely wear this for all occasions be it casual or formal.

While I'm at it, I shall review this nude polish from The Faceshop. I really like the colour but it took me 5 layers to get it opaque. It was also quite streaky. I do forgive these aspects because the colour is just what I wanted.

I drew the borders with acrylic black paint then went on to stamp the design from Bundle Monster plate BM-407 on with Mundodeunas black stamping polish and filled in the gaps with black acrylic paint. Lastly, I topped it off with my favourite top coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Classy French Tips - Minty-fied!

Hi Guys!
Here's my NOTD (Nails of the day) featuring a classy mint lace french tips.
I'm not the type that really likes french tips especially since my nail beds are so incredibly short but this mani is so YES! Plus who would say no to lace and mint?!?
Shorter nail beds = Longer french tips

Anyway, here are the colours I used for the mani.
Base coat - Essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener
Mint - Miss Ashleigh Experi-mint
Black - Mundodeunas Stamping Polish
Top Coat - Glisten & Glow HK Girl
Nail Vinyls - Teismom
That's it for this post!
Cheers!

Normal Stamping Vs Reverse Stamping

Hey guys!

I posted this mani on instagram (@chronosz) last night and wanted to discuss the pros and cons of 'Normal stamping Vs Reverse Stamping'.

The photos are not very clear but hopefully it will suffice for this brief explanation.

I used reverse stamping on the pointer finger whereas the others were done using the normal stamping method. From my observation, the design is clearer and neater using the reverse stamping method. On the other hand, the normal stamping allows for missing pieces of the pattern and the design can sometimes come out crooked.

This can be explain by the following:

  1. You did not stamp the design properly
  2. Part of the polish dried
  3. The polish you are using is not suitable
For me, I am still looking for a good stamping polish. my favourite black polish from The Faceshop is too sheer for stamping. So far, I have purchased black polishes from Laval and Rica. Truth be told, I was incredibly excited when I got my Rica polishes. I had seen so many beautiful manis using her polish but to my dismay it was not meant to be. The Rica polish was impossible to stamp with, even with the reverse stamping method. I'm not saying that it's not good but there were other factors preventing me from using it properly. I'll comment more on this in a different post.

Getting back to the topic at hand, reverse stamping is done by top coating the design when it is on the stamper, wait for it to dry, peel it off, top coat your nail and paste it on like a nail wrap. Basically, it's a DIY nail wrap. The reason why the design comes out neater is because reasons 1 & 2 do not apply here. The downside is that it could come out uneven when you're putting it on your nail. I still have difficulties with it and most of the time, the side of the 'nail wrap' doesn't stick on the nail and it leaves air pockets.

It is best to press it down onto your nail and make sure it's stuck on hard first before cutting off the excess and applying another layer of top coat. Here's a video tutorial from the amazing Sveta Sanders. Check here instagram out for more amazing manis!!

In my opinion, normal stamping is all good if you've got a good polish while reverse stamping is good when you have some of the problems above like I do or if you want to add a little colour to the design.

That's all for this post!
Cheers!

Wedding Dinner Nails

Hey guys!

So...I went for my cousin's wedding last night and of course I wouldn't go with naked nails!

Matching my dress which was red with black lace around the waist, I went for a nice simple design using Bundle Monster stamping plates.

(Photo at the bottom of the post)

I used Faceshop's black polish to stamp on a rose design onto OPI Big Apple Red.

My bf decided to call this mani Roselle. 😂

I still had to 'paint-by-numbers' cause the black polish doesn't come out opaque after being stamped. All in all still pretty!

Hope you like it!
Cheers!

Stamping Fever!

Elo Elo!
I've been super into konad recently and my current fav is Bundle Monster's 'Create Your Own' Collection 2013 (CYO 2013).

Yeah! So those are the plates included in the collection. Who says that freestyle is the only way to go!
I used to be so against using konad since the first time I used it and it turned out to fugly! ><

But after getting slightly better I wanna find more ways to create manis with them!

Here are some of the mani I did with the CYO 2013.

Really like the binary code mani! I really want proper konad polishes now tho. The normal nail polish doesn't stick as much and sometimes ends up super light.

Definitely going to try out more designs and never forgetting to do some freestyle! Venturing out into another style of nail art soon!

That's it for now!
Cheers! ^^
