Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Polish : Wool Knot

Elo nail art lovers! <3
Long time no see.

It is great to say that I have bought my first ever texture polish.
I saw this baby at Priceline.

Two coats with no topcoat

Wool Knot with Essie Green Apple Mint as a base
No topcoat

With topcoat

Now, I was really excited when I got this polish. I've heard so much about textured polishes (not this specific brand or polish). Sad to say that I was quite disappointed with the fuzzy coat. Why? Because unlike it's name, it's no fuzzy. The first question that pops into my head when someone says 'textured polish' is "What does is feel like?". No texture, no deserve the name of textured polish.

Anyway, Sally Hansens Fuzzy Coat Collection reminds me glitter polishes. Hard to apply, hard to remove and layering it is best. Wook knot is a clear polish with blue and white fibers in it. It is hard to apply because the polish is a bit gooey. Multiple layers are needed to get the 'fuzzy' look.

That's it for this polish.
Cheers,

Do not underestimate cuticles!

Hello hello!
Today I have to talk about something serious!

CUTICLES!

I'm not sure whether all nail artists trim their cuticles on a regular basis or not trim it at all. For me, I trim it when it goes bonkers and it annoys me.

For those that have gone for a professional manicure and for those that have not, they usually use cuticle trimmers that look like this.

I actually have a pair of these but I find that when I trim my cuticles with it, they turn out a big jagged. Probably need to practice more but NEVERMIND that for now! XD So instead of these, I take the lazy people way! =P

I have no idea if there is another term for this type of cuticle trimmer but it is a cuticle trimmer. There's a small SHARP blade at the end.

All in all when using a cuticle trimmer, one should ALWAYS soften them first.
I'm lazy so I don't usually do that but when you don't, accidents can happen...

YES! I accidentally cut them too deep and only noticed that my nail was bleeding when I was walking to meet my friend.
Truth be told, I haven't seen my cuticles bleed in years! I think I was in a hurry when I trimmed them this time...thus BLOOD!

So, YES!
Please please please pleaseeeeeeeee
soften your cuticles before trimming them!
Either soak them in water or use a cuticle softener.

There's some advice for all of yous!
Cheers!

Seche (chips nail polish like nobody's business) Vite

Hey nail polish addicts!
If you did not know, I liked using Seche Vite fast drying top coat because it leaves a nice gloss on the design as well as drys fast

HOWEVER

The nail polish chips so fast that it's not funny!
When the top coat is still new, the polish will chip but when the top coat gets gooey then the polish will peel off.

=.=

Imagine my expression...

This is my polish after less than a day...ridiculous...
I'll have to start looking for a different top coat now...
So the hunt begins!!

If anyone has any suggestions, I would like to know
=)

Cheers!

A different type of butterfly

Hey all!
You guys have seen butterfly wing manis rite?
If you haven't then go ask Mr. Google cause he know ALL! XD

I was getting quite bored of the normal type of butterfly wing manis.
Which I categorize as a colour as base (to your liking) with black polish to shape the wings and dots (preferably white) to pattern the wings.

So I decided to experiment a bit and try something different.
Somehow or another the word "apple" came into mind thus the colours; yellow, red and black. Yellow for the filling, red for the skin and black for the seeds.

This is NOT how I envisioned it.

It actually doesn't look like butterfly wings.
FAILURE!
But failure is needed to succeed!
Maybe a different colour combi would be better and I don't mean the mundane combi.

That's it for this post!
Cheers!

P/S: My middle finger nail on my left hand kinda split from the skin a bit so it hurts...won't be painting my nails until it heals.

Nyannnnnnnnnnn

Hello nail art lovers!
I am back in Melbourne and have access to ALL my polishes now! XD
What is the first nail art that I did?
If the title didn't give it away then the mani will do the thick! =P

My friend actually challenged me to do this mani!
Then I went all Barney Stinson and said, "Challenge Accepted!"
LOL

This was a really fun mani to paint although I did get the proportions wrong again ><
That's it for this mani! Technically this isn't the mani I started the semester with. I painted my favorite Green Apple Mint from Essie topped with Nubar's Black Polkadots!

Happy Back to School/Uni/College!
Cheers!

Here's the video for fun!!

Happy 4th of July...oops!

Hello everyone!
Happy American Independence Day! =)
Happy 4th of July!!
Although it's already the 5th of July in Malaysia
=P

I managed to make due with the little amount of nail polish I have since my collection in still in Melbourne!
Luckily for me that I happened to have the right-ish colours

Had to cut the tape strips myself thus the uneven stripes...
Might consider getting more tape...

Red, white and blue are the colours and so I delivered!
Have a great day everyone!
Hope you enjoy time with you families watching fireworks light up the sky!

Cheers!

A hazy last summer

Elo Elo!
So you all should know that nails are not super uber short but that's not going to stop me from painting my nails! Actually, I have to paint my nails to prevent them getting shorter D8

Anyway, I purposely got a set of mini nail polishes for the winter holiday that I am spending in Malaysia. This is because I left my big box of polishes back in Melbourne...too heavy to bring it home for a short period of time. LOL

Did you manage to guess the set of minis that I bought?

THEY ARE...

ESSIE SUMMER 2012 MINI COLLECTION
Sorry about the bad photo quality but there's hardly any sunshine today because of the haze.

The set includes :-

Mojito Madness
Bikini so Teeny
Off The Shoulder
Fear or Desire

I managed to swatch 2 colours today. I shall show you guys the other two another day. This way it gives me more polish to use over the holiday! =)

First up is Mojito Madness!
This polish is a murky green although the colour in the photo is a bit off.
One coat is enough to make it opaque but if you want a deeper green then you can paint 2 coats.
I used 2 coats in the photo.

Next is Bikini So Teeny.
I actually thought that the set was all pastels but this polish proved me wrong.
Bikini So Teeny is a Violet-Blue polish with a tinge of glitter.
The colour in the photo is obviously what I have been describing but blame the bad weather >.<
This polish is streaky when I applied it, most probably because of the glitter.
This coat is opaque and smooth in 2 coats.

Well, that's all for this post!
Cheers!
