Taped Retro Twist

Hey guys!! XD
In my last post I told you guys that I was gonna post up my current mani rite!!
So here they are!!!! XD

Remember the Topshop polishes I got from my Singapore trip in January?
I used those 3 polishes for this mani!! ^^
I've seen this mani quite a few times online so I thought I would try it!
Instead of using cellotape I used the blue stripping tape that I got a while back!
It works so much better than the cellotape XD
After I added the rhinestones I thought, "Hmmm this so reminds me of a jesters hat! XD"

Bwahahahhaha
Yeah! Yeah! That jester!! XD
The rhinestones became the bells for the hat =P
I'm quite happy with this mani! ^^
I learnt a new way to do tape manis and I got to use polishes I rarely use too!

That's all for now!
Look forward to 'The Simple Little Things 03' soon!!

Cheers!

The Simple Little Things 02

Hi Everyone!
In my last post, The Simple Little Things 01 I talked about the sweet things my friends have done for me rite? In the The Simple Little Things 02...
this guy is kinda like my friend but of all things he is my big brother =)

My bro is so cool!! XD
He went to Australia like a month ago on business
what did he bring back for me??
NAIL POLISH!!! XD

Australis Brand Nail Polish
From Left: Flip Flops, Peek-a-Boo

My nails are still at an uneven length so I did the swatches on a nail wheel! ><
Here ya go! ^^

So...Australis Peek-a-Boo is a pastel violet polish...kinda reminds me of the faceshop polish that I have...I'll do the dupe swatches another day...anywayz...it is completely opaque in 2 coats and it does streak thus the need to apply a third coat at times >< all in all it is a nice pastel colour and a good top coat makes it even better XD

Australis Flip Flops on the other hand...I really think the names of the polishes should be switched XD WHY?? Cause there are tiny flakies hidden in the polish!! You can't really see them until you tilt them to a certain angle and it really makes you think "peek-a-boo! I'm here" but the name of the polish is flip flops >< ...it's quite apparent in the bottle though! =)

When my brother gave it to me...I was awwing at the pretty-ness of the polish but was quite disappointed when the flakies didn't POP when I painted it on the nail wheel! >< Just like Peek-a-Boo, it is opaque in 2 coats but it doesn't streak...good thing! In a nut shell, it is a dark blue polish with hidden tiny flakies in it! ^^

My brother is so sweet that he bought nail polish for me all the way from Australia! =D
The Simple Little Things...always make you happy!

Cheers!

The Simple Little Things 01

Hi Everyone!
You know a lot of people say that
the simple little things are what affects you the most...
Well...whoever they are...
They were right
=)

My friend Xin Yi went on holiday with her family a couple of months ago and she got me and Jade nail polish!! ^^ The fact that she actually thought of us while she was on vacation is just sweet! =)
She got me Color Combos CBL146 & CTW504!!

So...CBL146 is the pink creme polish! I don't know how to comment on the colour but to me it's a soft pink colour...it would definitely look great on short nails not that I think that it doesn't look nice on longer nails! =P

CTW504 on the other hand is a clear polish that has a mixture
of gold tiny round flakies and random chunky flakies! ^^
Great polish for layering and for dinner occasion manis! ^^

That's it for this post but wait!!
If you read the title of the post, you would have already noticed that this is only the first 'The Simple Little Things' post and that's because Xin Yi is not the only one that's done this and made me feel appreciated and I think they all deserve their own post! Don't you think so?

Cheers!
For now...
^^

Nubar Black Polka Dot Review

Woo hoo!!
BLACK GLITTER BABY!!!
^^

So...usually I would paint the swatches on my natural nail but...
if you've been keeping up with my blog then you would know
that I broke a nail a week back and then...
this happened 3 days ago ><

Sighhhhh it broke pretty deeply...and I've cut the other nails so they do not follow in this nails footsteps ><

I was actually not planning to paint the swatches till my nails grew back which would be who knows when!! THEN! I realized that I could paint them on my nail wheel!! Weeeeeee XD

HERE ARE THE SWATCHES!!!

I used Essie Mint Candy Apple as the Base! =)
Nubar Black Polka Dot is as I said a black glitter polish!
It is a combination of black small tiny round flakies and big hexagonal flakies! =)
I absolutely LOVE this polish!! XD

Here's the next BEST part about it!!
It look even better matte!!! XD
I used Essie Matte About You to mattify the glitter!
I just can't get over how pretty it is and
it is also why I have them on my nails now!!
I won't be taking my polish off for a while!

Cheers!
^^

Nail Polish Spree 04

Hey everyone!!
I seriously have been procrastinating on the posts lately ><
Well...while I was off doing whatever I was doing...my next nail polish spree arrived!! ^^

From left: Nubar Black Polka Dot, Essie Red Nouveau, OPI Alpine Snow

You're all probably wondering why there are only 3 bottles
when the package is so big aren't you! XD
There reason for that is that there was an OPI mini set in the package too but it's my friends and I've already given to her thus no photos either! =P

The polish I was most excited about in this spree is Nubar Black Polka Dot!! XD
I've been seeing lots of swatches of black glitter and I JUUUUSSSSTTTT had to have it!! ^^
Shall be uploading the swatches soon!! Yayyyyy!!!

I have a lot of swatches done so shall be updating more...hopefully!! XD

Cheers!

KONY 2012

Hi Everyone!!
From the title of the post you would have already guessed what I painted! XD
And NO! I did not paint KONY on my nails!! =P

Got the inspiration from the KONY 2012 posters on google!

Yeah...so I finally saw the viral video of KONY 2012 that's been going around and I was like "Wowwwww this guy is super good at making videos!! How did he do this effect??!!" I'm a mass comm student so I can't help but think this kind of thoughts =P I'm not really a KONY 2012 supporter and the more that I think about it...the only reason I painted KONY 2012 inspired nails was cause I was uber uninspired at the time and I just saw the video =)

This is one of the few intricate designs I've painted...I'm quite proud of it though I think the fourth nail design is kinda misshapen >< Oh well!!

On a different note...it was my nephew's full moon party last night...and I kinda partied too hard and my nail broke...=.="....the horror!!

So this is what my nails look like now...
you soooo don't want to see my right hand ><

I won't be painting inspired nail art for a while since it sooo does not work when there's 1 nail shorter than the rest ><

Please let my nails grow quickly ><
Cheers!

Dye It Right

Hey All!!
Sorry I haven't been updating and all but I had a lot to do and I was recently in a traffic accident so...do forgive me ><

So! I did this mani a while ago...probably a week ago =P

So this is my left hand...I used Color Combo's CBL104 a.k.a. white polish as the base and stamped 4 different colours on top! ^^ It kinda looked like a 'dyed T-shirt'...ya know...the ones where you take a plain white T and dip it in cloth dye to form a pattern on the shirt XD Hence the title! =P

This is obviously my right hand...I didn't want to do the same colour and pattern so opted for green and yellow stripes...in a way =P

This actually all started because I wanted to try out this stamping technique this korean nail blogger uses...again...i lost the link to her blog cause my lappie crashed on me...AGAIN!!! sighhh i'll TRY to remember to save the link the next time I find it....sighhhhh
anyway...so she uses a 'i think' NOT cosmetic sponge cause you can see the texture in her photo tutorials and it soooo does not look the same as mine ><

I usually use cosmetic sponges and it sometimes peels off when it's too wet and the texture changes thus changing the pattern of the polish when I stamp it on my nails >< So...what I did was went out and looked for a relatively HARD sponge and I found one! I really wanted to try it out!!

Check out my sponge and nails when I was doing the stamping XD

Messy eh...well...nothing a little cleaning can' fix XD

Hope you liked this somewhat tutorial/advice/nail art post! XD
Cheers!

Out with the old, In with the new?

Hey guys!
In my last post I blogged on Color Club Ms Socialite and it's
PURPLE AWESOMENESS!
Well...the reason I was looking for a purple polish was because
my old purple polish was dying...=(

China Glaze Free Fall & Color Club Ms Socialite

China Glaze Free Fall was the first ever China Glaze polish I ever bought!!
I really love the violet creme polish =)

Here are some swatch comparisons though the colours are related
but the shades are miles apart! XD

Both purple polishes are gorgeous to me!
I regret nothing!! XD

Cheers!

Pretty2U Magnetic Polish Review

Hi Everyone!!
So...there's been a lot of talk about 'Magnetic Polish' these past few months...
As usual I just had to try it!! XD I bought a bottle of Pretty2U Magnetic Polish from this small nail art booth at Time Square a few weeks ago and I didn't notice that I hadn't blogged about it till now...sorry!! ><"

HERE ARE THE SWATCHES!!

Can you see the lines on the polish?
That's basically what magnetic polish is like...to my knowledge there are 5 patterns that can be made with different magnets of course. The magnet I got wasn't powerful enough though...that's why some of the lines on some of the nails are not so apparent >< I really like the colour that I picked out! It's sorta raspberry-ish ain't it! XD Oh! The polish brush is super thick and spread really well!! I could paint my entire nail in a single swipe! 8D
I wish other polishes had this type of brush XD

Magnetic polish...not really something that I would buy again since I don't really like the singular pattern gig...=S I would rather do nail art than have single colours on my nails! =) If any of you are planning on getting magnetic polish then I suggest you get a really good magnet first! =P

Cheers!

Color Club Ms. Socialite Review

Wazzup peeps?!!
OMG...I felt so weird after I wrote that ^

Anywayzzzz...this is one of the polishes from Nail Polish Spree 03
that I've been meaning to review! ^^

HAVE A LOOK!

Color Club Ms. Socialite is a deep grape purple per say and it is my FAVORITE out of the spree!! XD It is opaque in 2 coats and it doesn't streak. Super easy application and I just LOVE it! <3

Remember the 'Back to School Converse Nails' I did some time ago?
I use Color Club Ms Socialite for the thumb nails!
Don't they look awesome now!!

If you're looking for a dark purple creme polish...I would definitely suggest
Color Club Ms Socialite! =)

That's all for now!
Cheers!
^^

Mini Spree

Hey Nail Art Lovers!!
I know I have yet to review and post up the polishes
from my other nail polish sprees but I just can't help it!! ><
So I found this small nail art booth in Pavilion the other day
and I just couldn't stay away from the nail art goodness XD

Chain, rhinestones, blue nail art strip tape, 2 nail wheels

I finally found some nail wheels and I'm so excited!! I also got a chain to use during dinner occasions since there are rhinestones stuck to it...and of course I got some rhinestones too!! XD The main thing in this spree is the blue nail strip tape! I've been wanting to get a silver tape for quite a while now but when I bought this one the blue and silver tape were really similar and didn't know that I bought the wrong colour till I used it ><

I did a quick mani just to use it!

Forgive the sloppiness since I did them when I was half asleep ><
I couldn't really get the tape to stick so the ends always stuck out =S
I did some "aztec" writing on the white parts with a silver dotting pen but you can't really c them in the photo cause of the sunlight =S

There'll be more opportunities to do aztec manis to don't fret!
That's all for today!
Cheers!

Faceshop Black Polish Review

Hey everyone!!
If you've been following my blog you would have known that I've been looking high and low for a good brand of black polish...
or maybe it was all in my head =P
What I didn't notice was that there was a really good black polish
RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE!!
Or in this case in my nail polish collection!! XD

Faceshop BK901 Black!!
I've actually been using this polish for quite some time now and to think I was looking through reviews online for a good black polish! ><

Here are some swatches for you guys to check out!!
^^

Obviously this is one of my favorite polishes to use in my designs!!
BK901 is opaque in 2 coats but it painted properly it can be opaque in 1 coat.
It does not streak and best of all the stain is super minimal! =) All black polishes would stain to some extent and this polish leaves very little to no stain at all especially when you paint a double coat of base coat! =D

If there's a Faceshop near your place and you're looking for a black polish...
GO GET BK901!! XD

Cheers Everyone!
^^
